For drinks priced at half of what you'll pay downtown and an unpretentious bartender who isn't an aspiring bullshitter, Queen Sheba is it. You'll never run into anyone you know, unless you go with friends, and your uninterrupted merriment is only matched by that of the Ethiopian men sitting at the end of the bar who gather for a few bottles of escapism just like you. Sure, the joint is dimly lit and the ambience, like a funny-looking Taiwan-made African doll, is a bit iffy. But, since this is West Philly, the unpredictability of not knowing when a weirdo might stumble into this spot is part of the fun.
