    INFO & EVENTS

Blue Nile is convienently located in the heart of Columbus, Ohio, within walking distance of Ohio State University and Clintonville. Lunch Buffets.

Share a truly unforgettable dining experience right here in Columbus at Blue Nile Restaurant without having to travel thousands of miles. Gather around the tray ( Mosseb ) made for a group to eat from the same platter.  Experiencing the community dish by eating from the same plate and sharing the same bread (called Injera ) is socially significant in the Ethiopian culture and also creates a bond of friendship and personal loyalty between the diners. It is said that people who eat from the same plate ( Mosseb ) will never betray one another.

Injera, a flat tangy, crepe-like bread, is the essential part of the meal.  It is made out of teff , wheat and corn flours.  Teff is a cereal grain, until now unique to Ethiopia, which is rich in iron, protein, complex carbohydrates, calcium, potassium, and other minerals.  By pinching a bite-sized piece of Injera, it is used to scoop up chunks of food, placing it into your mouth or your partner's -- which is considered a gesture of affection. Berbere sauce is used in many dishes, creating a spicy base from red peppers.  Blue Nile spices give the dishes a personal touch of distinction which you will undoubtedly enjoy.

Alechas are more delicately seasoned dishes which do not use the Berbere sauce, but are flavored with butter and subtle spices. Prepare yourself for a truly unforgettable dining experience.

    Faithfully yours,
    Mequanent and Meaza Berihun

    PRESS & REVIEWS

Do not simply take our word for it; read what others had to say about dining at the Blue Nile Restaurant!

"Having a restaurant like this really is a community treasure, " [RHS social studies teacher Steve Shapiro] said. "The owners were generous enough to give up their entire afternoon and close down their business to bring their culture to our students. It's the only one of its kind in this area, offering food and culture you can't get anywhere else. More than just a restaurant, it's a wonderful resource."

We wanted to tell you what a wonderful restaurant you have. We always enjoyed eating there. The food is excellent, but it was your gracious hospitality that we will truly remember. We did our best to make sure all our friends know about your restaurant.

Once inside, a hand-written sign on the wall greets you with "We are happy that you are dining with us," and indeed they were. Ethiopian pictures adorn the otherwise sparse walls, and traditional music could be heard faintly in the background.
The assortment of flavors and colors all on one plate add to the complexity of the unusual taste of the food itself. And, as our waiter admonished us after it was too late, save room for the injera under the piles of food - it's like the icing on the cake!

I think the Blue Nile restaurant is great. The food is wonderful, and the service is good. They are extremely appreciative of your business.

Here we opened with tomato fitfit, a cold salad of tomatoes, beets, green peppers, onion and injera, very much like Italian bread and tomato salad, which we found absolutely outstanding... We ordered Yebeg Alicha and a vegetable assortment, the same dishes we had eaten at Black Lion. The lamb stew was clearly better, fresh-tasting and tender. The vegetable assortment was wonderful. Especially notable were the Tikil Gomen, cabbage and onions with sweet red peppers, and the Debjina, fresh eggplant with tomatoes.
The coffee and incense arrived just in time. Service at the Blue Nile was friendly and efficient. We plan on making this a regular meal out venue.

Absolutely the most friendly people in the city! (not to mention a eating experience you will never forget.) I give them 5 plus stars.
